'DAY DELTA OF ORIENTATION'

Flag day. I was way early this time, 0730, not late as usual, and had meet up with my classmates in Pasir Ris MRT station. We set off to Ehub, which seemed to be deprived of life. We then proceeded to Macdonald and had breakfast, till 0930, while waiting for the human traffic to get heavier. We strolled to the deserted Pasir Ris Park next.

We changed our venue to Tampines. It was at the arrival spot of the interchange did we started receiving donations. Coins. We toiled endlessly for the next two hours, asking for donations from passengers that dropped off from every train that approached the interchange. My President's Challenge SP tee was soaked with my perspiration.

We stopped at 1130 for our lunch break, decided to not carry on after feeling the fatigue after lunch, and headed to Tampines1 mall, find a seat and rest till 1. Then on board the train back to SP. I collected $18+, however the minimum is at least $20, so took some from Andrew, to meet the target.

I had attended the Freshmen Orientation Party. It was impressive as they had two halls set up for this event, with one as the holding areas for food and drinks and the other for partying.

The food was quite nice. There were many different varieties of food, such as pizza, cakes, ice-creams and chicken wings, the most enjoyable portion of the camp.

As for the party, I did not really enjoy it. They had performances from the Poly's deejay, beat boxers, extreme sports club and hip-hop dancers. People around me were cheering, clapping and screaming. However, I do not understand the music from scratching and beat boxing, hence, it mostly noise pollution to me, haha.

Extreme sports club performances were quite nice. They had skated and rollerbladed through difficult courses, fell a few times, but never fails to get back up and try again.

Hip-hop dancing should have been the highlight. Sadly, its very difficult to see them performing as they performed in the middle of where the audiences were. Everything was blocked. Eventually, they went back up the stage and performed, but was jeered at due to repetitions, I think. Went home as the music still continued blasting at Concourse.

'DAY CHARLIE OF ORIENTATION'

No running? We just ran yesterday. No cheering? Its becoming a nuisance. No seats? Well, I was late, again, haha. Then what we did today? Training on the usage of the school's website. How did it goes? Not good. With the whole SB using the wireless, the internet lagged SEVERELY.

Lunch was the opposite. Exchanged contacts with my class' boys after dining together. As we did not know where to proceed after lunch, we decided to stalk our class' girls, lol. So we followed all the way and was eventually discovered at SB. It was an awkward situation.

'Hey, how come you all are here?', the girls asked.

'We're stalking you', Kautham answered. I laughed. Then we went into our classroom, took out our laptop, and started adding everyone in the class onto Facebook. We then joked around while creating our own group on Facebook, haha.

President's Challenge 2010 tomorrow!!!

'DAY BETA OF ORIENTATION'

Late. Supposed to be with the class at Dover by 0745, but only managed to reach the venue at 8. Fortunately, I had informed my facilitator that I will be late. When I had finally reached, none of my classmates were there, which I had already expected. I was thinking if i should just head for the auditorium myself, when a classmate patted on my back.

'Hey, you're my class one, rite?', it felt great then to see someone, of the same class, in the same shoe, haha. Then, out of nowhere, my facilitator appeared miraculously, i literally heaved a sign of relieved. I got a seat in the auditorium, stared at the stage, and the blank screen. Bored. The other facilitators as usual were trying doing cheer. It was 8 plus in the morning when I saw other courses screaming their head off, haha. I had forgotten to mention one thing in my previous post. The course I am in, Accountancy, is the quietest course in the whole of business school. So how did out facilitator cheered? It was really exceptional from other school.

'DAC, diam!'

Then thumbs up to us. He did not actually need to do that. We were already quiet, since the day before. I laughed at this point. Then they had performances by the dance clubs and cheer leading group and talks from the principal, a lecturer and the head of councilor. The principal's talk is like so soothing, that I almost slept, haha. The performances was quite nice, especially the ones from the dance clubs.

Lunch next. Yesterday's meal costs me $2.60, today's $1.70 and is much nicer. Then break away from my class to find Egin, who is configuring his computer. Then when i gone back to the same place, they were vanished, somewhat similar to the morning. Manage to find them after calling my facilitator.

When we were back at the auditorium, we played a game called '007'. We will have to formed a circle and the first person will shout '0', and point to the next person. The next 3 person will repeat the routine but shout '0', '7', and 'bang' respectively. The people beside the person who was pointed after the 'bang', must raise their hands and shout 'ah!'.

It was very fun and interesting, almost had to do the forfeit, haha. Then my class suddenly become so enthusiastic. When the other courses were cheering, the facilitators decided to try their luck.

'DAC, oie!'.

'OIE!'.

The leading facilitator was taken aback that there was a reply, and its from my class. I feel so proud, haha. Then the other facilitator praise us. When the amazing race starts, our class girls had already sprinted off. I think that enthusiasm is contagious, as I ran even though I did not planned too. Midway in the race, I feel that my class is alive, hahaha.

There are several checkpoints, such as drinking water from a straw with several more openings on its body, line up according to birth dates, finding tags hidden in the school and many more. Our facilitator is always urging us to run, and you could feel that you want to win, instead of feeling bored. It was tiring but really fun. We did not manage to win any prizes but I am contented with the process.

Today is much more tiring. Today is much more fun.

Today is much more exciting.

'DAY ALPHA OF ORIENTATION'

Like all freshmen, I was quite troubled on the attire for the first day of orientation. In the end, after several indecisive and hesitating moments, I decided on wearing my class polo tee and pants, no jeans. Hours later, my decision had been proved to be a right one.

The moment we reached the T19 foyer, we saw that many people like us are already there, queuing up. Since following the majority could hardly be wrong, we followed suit. We were actually quite some distance back in the queue, but after some adjustments made by the facilitators there, we were halfway through.

We collect our freshmen's bag and parted different ways, into our classes. My class is DAC/FT/1A/02. The moment I was in the hall, I asked for my class, get a seat, then keep quiet, haha. Then the facilitators tried to teach us cheers. Now i know why is it always so difficult to teach cheers and get them bonded on their first day, as everything comes down to a simple question- 'Will you follow a stranger's order?'. However, I could see that they were trying to make it fun and enjoyable for us.

We were then bought back to the classes, and have some bonding games, such as saying good morning to the people before you that sort of stuffs. These games are very common, i know it will be part of the class bonding games but i still could not remember their names, damn...

Then we have our lunch. It was so cramped that you could not even find a place to share seats with other poly students. So we have to shift from one canteen to another. The lecturers later said that its almost impossible to get a seat from 1100 to 1300. So is either you eat way before 1100 or way after 1300. We did manage to get a seat and have lunch. I missed GDL canteen, haha. Their servings are quite an amount but it is not as nice. Luckily, there are many more food courts, hopefully can find one in them that is nice and cheap.

After lunch, went back to the hall to listen to talks on how our education in SP will be and rules and regulations. Time to complain: fine, it all about fines. Once commit a mistake, bid farewell to $50, haha. Then we had games. The games is not really well done, we do not know the purpose of the games, such as connecting three straws together and drink from a bottle, then i asked my classmate, whose name i had forgotten, whether he knows the purpose. He smiled and shook his head. Of course some games are fun too. One example is the dog and bone, thought the purpose of the game was not explained, but its enjoyable.

As all the games came to an end, so was my first day of the orientation. I was exhausted and certainly, sweaty.
